Bird lovers and bird watchers worldwide annually recognize National Bird Day on January 5th.
It was launched in 2002 to promote avian awareness and has evolved into a day to make people aware of critical issues surrounding the protection and survival of birds, both captive and wild.
At Embroider Buddy we love birds and have some very special bird buddies.
Pendrick Penguin is great friends with his nestmate Okie Owl. This owl is a hoot! At 16″ tall with big expressive eyes, rich brown coat and orange accents he s one good looking bird. His flat pile belly will make any design easy to embroider.
If you love Okie Owl (and we know you do!), you’ll be head over heels for Oberon. With his sparkly, golden black glass eyes, this bird has a mysterious curiosity about him. We can’t get enough of his fuzzy brow and collar, perfect for snuggling. His spots add to his personality. His neutral shade and large white embroiderable area will make colours and designs pop.
We are celebrating by cuddling our special buddies and:
- looking at a bird identification book and identifying species we might find in our area (and how accurate our Embroider Buddies are!)
- adding feeders to our backyard to attract birds for us to watch
- going for walks in parks, trails and more to try and identify more bird species
Do you have a favourite bird? Are there any you think we should add to our nest? Comment below with your ideas.
